The Grand
Parade
Begins at 2:30 pm
The 2011 parade theme was "It's Easy Being Green"
Route: Marsh Road from Pelham Elementary School to the center of town
then turning right onto Main Street past the First Congregational Church and
ending at Saint Patrick's School. School groups and teams, community
groups, scout troops, politicians, businesses, classic cars/trucks/motorcycles,
horses - even doll carriages, pets, and decorated bicycles - are encouraged to
be in the Pelham Old Home Day parade. Please contact our parade chairman,
Tom Seniow, at tseniow@mansd.org for all
the information you'll need.
The Grand Marshal selected by the Pelham Old Home Day Committee for 2011 was
Ron Hannon, Director of the Pelham Environmental Recycling Complex (PERC).
Ron successfully implemented changes at the town transfer station resulting in
increased recycling, reduced costs and increased revenues for our town.
Pelham is seeing green in more ways than one due to the efforts of Ron, the PERC
staff, outside vendors and townspeople that support "Being Green" when they
visit PERC. Please join us in celebrating the success and dedication of
Ron and his staff who truly make it easy to be green in Pelham.
Pelham, NH was
recognized in March of 2011 by
"Waste & Recycling News" as a finalist in the Green City Awards as one of the
top three communities of our size in the country for excellence in community
education about recycling.
In May of 2011 PERC received the prestigious
Regional EPA Environmental Merit
Award in the governmental category which recognizes valuable
contributions to environmental awareness and problem solving.
