During this year’s Pelham Old Home Day Parade, one of the vehicles in the parade displayed a political flag. Political displays, other than those specified in our Old Home Day policy and spelled out in our parade invitation, are not allowed in the Pelham Old Home Day Parade. This particular display only appeared because none of parade organizers noticed it or because it was displayed after the vehicle left the staging area at Pelham Elementary School.
Here is our parade policy regarding politicians: “We even like having politicians in the parade. Just remember, our rules state that there is to be no negative campaigning and that only the politician/candidate and 2 supporters may march/ride.”
Since this political flag was for someone not in the parade, any displays for candidates or politicians not present were not appropriate, and the only reason it was in the parade was because we didn’t notice it. You have our humble apology for that oversight.
